Cartas collects no data at all. No accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no servers of ours receiving anything. Everything you do in the app — your learning progress, your settings, your error reports — stays on your device. This is not a setting: the app contains no telemetry code, so there is nothing to switch off.
Your review progress, card states, settings and any error reports you write are stored in an on-device database. We cannot see them, back them up, or recover them. If you uninstall the app, they are deleted with it. You can export a backup of your progress (card identifiers and learning state only — never deck content) from Settings; the file is created only when you tap export and leaves your device only if you choose to share or move it yourself.
If a card looks wrong, “Report an error” saves your note in a local outbox on your device. It goes nowhere on its own. Only if you use Settings → “Send error reports” and pick a destination yourself does the file leave the phone — to wherever you sent it, under that service's own privacy terms.
Payments are processed by the app store (Google Play or the App Store), never by us: we never see or store your payment details. The app validates your purchase receipt on your device and remembers the resulting entitlement locally, so the app keeps working fully offline. The store's own handling of your purchase record is covered by the store's privacy policy.
French audio is spoken by your device's own text-to-speech engine. Cartas sends nothing to any server for this; how your device's speech engine works is governed by your operating system's settings and policies.
Cartas is a general-audience language-learning app. Because it collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
